~therapy for the soul~

I'm Jamie L. Currid, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker with over fifteen years experience in the mental health field.  I earned my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology from The College of New Jersey in 2000, followed by a Masters in Social Work, from Monmouth University in 2003. I've worked in a variety of settings, including schools, psychiatric hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, and community mental health clinics.
I've always been passionate about working with adolescents and adults who suffer from a variety of mood and anxiety/trauma disorders.  I understand how stressful adolescence can be...trying to figure out who you are, trying to navigate through friendships and relationships, and learning to do so with dignity and self-respect.  I also understand that life circumstances happen in all stages of life. Relationships become strained, traumatic events occur, jobs can be stressful...these situations can be very overwhelming and sometimes we need help coping.  I believe that a family works as a system, and if one family member is struggling, it usually has a great impact on the others.  I believe that we all have great inner strength, but when life gets tough, we may need help accessing it.  Even the strongest people sometimes need help.
I utilize a gentle and compassionate approach, to help clients feel safe and supported, without judgment.  I work with individuals, families, couples, and groups (see "current groups offered" page).

I'm passionate about animal rescue and being a dog mom.  I hope to one day "hire" my pit bull, Justice, to help me provide animal-assisted therapy.  Stay tuned!

Jamie also offers affordable LCSW supervision for provisionally licensed social workers, and is passionate about helping her fellow professionals!
